The Waveguard Qi-Shield is a passive device, meaning no power supply, no charging, no app, and no settings. It is 3″ in diameter and 7″ tall, weighs just under 2 lbs, and features a walnut exterior and copper body. Inside, copper, gold, and silver wiring are set in glass with a proprietary liquid.
Waveguard specifies a coverage radius of 8 feet, which works out to roughly a 16-by-12-foot area, extending 6 feet above and below the unit. They advise keeping it at least 12 inches from electrical devices and power lines, and say it reaches full effect about a minute after being placed. Three Qi-Shields cover a similar radius to one Qi-Home Cell.
Waveguard describes the technology as depolarization, and is explicit that it does not block WiFi, Bluetooth, or cellular signals. In their words, “it doesn’t block the field; it restructures it.”
The unit is rated for 5 years at full efficiency with no replacement parts or subscriptions, and can be recharged or replaced at end of life. Developed in Germany and made in the USA, it carries TÜV Rheinland safety certification. It ships with a silk carrying bag, a 1-year limited manufacturer’s warranty, and a 90-day return period.
